Friday upon us

Air temperature 67 F, wind north gusting over 20 mph, mostly cloudy. No damage from yesterday's squall other than a dead branch out of the oak. Trash out, including that branch. May be able to get in a bike ride.

Morning catbird news

Parental activity continues. Chaos at feeding time continues. Yesterday's storm has relocated some leaves in the azalea, making the sight-lines less informative even though the youngsters are larger.

Friday floral report

First blue cornflower/chicory, queen Anne's lace, blooms on the milkweed, nightshade, probable purple loosestrife, possible yellow loosestrife (which isn't an alien, unlike its cousin.)

C-5 out at the airport/base, plus Blackhawks fluttering around. And some bird-brain has been adding sticks to the tops of the lighting pylons again. Our best guess is a misguided osprey.

Got out on the bike, across town and over and back, because the weekend weather looks questionable. Did not die.
