The summer solstice

We now begin the long slow slide into icy darkness. Air temperature 72 F, light east wind, partly cloudy. We're expecting mid-90s F again today, with heat indexes over 100. Another day spent cowering in our cave. So far our heat pumps are holding the enemy at bay.

Morning catbird news

Adults out and about collecting bugs, worms, etc. Still using that dwarf apple tree as a commuting stop, in spite of my work around it yesterday. We now have a high probability of four hatchlings in the nest.

Tribalism wins

A lot of people do not like diversity. Someone who doesn't look like them, act like them, believe like them, is not a Person. That means you don't have to treat them like Real People. This is true across the social, religious, and political spectrum.
