Amusing (sorta) conditions for the noon news.  Digital reception was shitty, with so many dropouts and freezes that the information content approached zero.  Analog reception on the same channels remained usable.  Since TV represents a major communications system for emergency situations, this may be a problem in the future.

(A couple of stations are off the air, both analog and digital signals.)

In the actual news, I did extract the information that somewhere in excess of 500,000 people are without power in Maine and New Hampshire.  Since I am posting to LJ, we do not seem to be numbered in that statistic.

We were without power aside from our emergency generator for much of yesterday. A friend of ours Nashua, NH is still without power, as are others in the Chelmsford/Westford area. PSNH projects they won't have power fully restored until Monday.

News stories say that serious numbers of Maine customers will be without power for several days as well.

Yeah, I'm hearing reports that say up to a million people throughout New England are without power.
