Okay, I never expected the latest confrontation between Afghan Harpy and Old Guy to drift into discussing the powers and skills of Sulaiman bin Daoud...

And this is why I don't bother with outlines. I write the stories to find out what happens. I know that some writers' plots spring forth fully armed and all that inspirational stuff. Mine don't. I have a general idea what is going to happen in the end (Happily Ever After, except when it isn't), start out with a character and a setting and a problem, and dive into the labyrinth.

Not as windy today, possible snow flurries, temperatures maybe ten degrees warmer. I have hopes of a ski run at the city forest later. Maybe too icy, will go widdershins because of those downhill turn/tree questions I have mentioned before.

Sulaiman bin Daoud
Solomon son of David? (My ignorance of Arabic is well-nigh infinite.)

Boston is forecast to actually be above normal temperatures today. Perhaps some of the iced-over sidewalks will finally melt. (Although I did see a Boston Police bicycle patrolman out this morning, ignoring red stop lights in the finest Boston bicyclist tradition.)

Yeah, that's the guy. My written context makes it obvious -- he says Solomon, she says Sulaiman. Tomayto, tomahto...

It's more a reference to Kipling than anything -- "The Butterfly That Stamped."

Dude. That's exactly what I do, whether I'm writing a story or an RPG adventure. I have a general idea, but it evolves on its own as the characters tell me the story and create their backgrounds and such. o.o Awesome!
