Odd twists
Feb. 20th, 2007 10:36 amOkay, I never expected the latest confrontation between Afghan Harpy and Old Guy to drift into discussing the powers and skills of Sulaiman bin Daoud...
And this is why I don't bother with outlines. I write the stories to find out what happens. I know that some writers' plots spring forth fully armed and all that inspirational stuff. Mine don't. I have a general idea what is going to happen in the end (Happily Ever After, except when it isn't), start out with a character and a setting and a problem, and dive into the labyrinth.

It's more a reference to Kipling than anything -- "The Butterfly That Stamped."

Date: 2007-02-20 11:21 pm (UTC)Dude. That's exactly what I do, whether I'm writing a story or an RPG adventure. I have a general idea, but it evolves on its own as the characters tell me the story and create their backgrounds and such. o.o Awesome!
