Air temperature 63 F, wind near calm, green globs popping up and disappearing on the weather radar. Rain overnight, but nothing serious. Particularly when compared to what happened west of us.

We have lost fifteen minutes of daylight since the solstice. Some of you aren't keeping track of this valuable resource.

Canada thistles starting to bloom, clumps of small pink defended by spines. Still a few goatsbeard open even though it is supposed to shut up at noon. Vetch everywhere.

Roadkill limited to gray squirrels, a male cardinal, a brown lump I am classifying as a juvenile woodchuck, and a smaller brown lump that could have been a chipmunk or even a sparrow -- wasn't close enough to tell if it was fur or feathers.

Weather cleared off, started to get steamy, so of course I headed out on the bike. Water not high enough to notice out in the bog. Did not die.
