Maybe ride chance day

Air temperature 47 F, wind southwest about 3 mph, partly cloudy. Didn't get out on the bike yesterday -- wind gusting to 30 mph, not fun. Rain possible next couple of days.

Wednesday roadkill and floral report

Flat porcupine in the middle of the road through the bog, looked like it had been there for several days ambushing unwary tires.

Ornamental fruit trees starting to bloom, cherries and plums and crab-apples. Shadbush blooming out in the woods. Too early for trillium and moccasin-flower. Bracken starting to unfurl, and cattail shoots green.

Got out on the bike, regular weekday route. Did not die.

Neighborhood eagles

Coming toward home on my afternoon walk, saw an adult bald eagle headed away and below roof level, pursued by crows. Not sure where the nest is, but we have had a pair of eagles every spring for several years now. And the crows don't like it.
