Air temperature 59 F, dew point 59, calm, weather service says we have clouds overhead as well as on the ground. Plan for a bike ride once visibility returns.

Some miscreant left chunks of polished granite slab on the road over a distance of about 10 miles on my route, reinforcing the bicyclist's survival imperative of WATCH THE DAMNED ROAD! I avoided all such obstacles.

One dead raccoon, looked like a yearling, and a wild turkey in the roadkill column. Plus a lot of gray squirrels and at least one chipmunk.

A lot more of the showy asters along the roadsides of one town -- I wonder if they were part of a seed mix.

Got out on the bike, upriver and across and down and back into the hills a bit. Did not die.

35.55 miles, 2:55:13

Milkweed turning yellow in the unmowed fields. Hope the monarchs have all done their metamorphosis thing and are flapping away to Mexico.
