Still getting overnight temperatures down near 20 F, but we're supposed to reach near 60 for the next few days. Don't know if the maple sap has turned "buddy" yet, getting that bitter green taste that signals the end of the sugar season as the leaf and flower buds swell. Wife will report on the nature center sap buckets on Friday.
Molting goldfinches still tell us that we're seeing transients at the feeders -- different patterns of blotches, and while the same birds may show more yellow from day to day, they won't show less . . .
Just like with the robins, we may see goldfinches in any season, but they won't necessarily be the same individuals.
