Things that go bump in the night

Overnight low -17 F. This may be another record low for the date. Several local booms in the darkness, which I am assigning to frost heaves resonating in frozen soil (at least until I find the broken rafters or foundation cracks at fault.)
May not demonstrate my total derangement by going skiing this afternoon. Although the windchill warning does lapse at noon . . .
