(Not necessarily in celebration of Robert Burns)

Overnight low -17 F.  This may be another record low for the date.  Several local booms in the darkness, which I am assigning to frost heaves resonating in frozen soil (at least until I find the broken rafters or foundation cracks at fault.)

May not demonstrate my total derangement by going skiing this afternoon.  Although the windchill warning does lapse at noon . . .

Skis!

Temperature vaulted up past 20 F, so I grabbed the skis and headed over to the City Forest.  Snow conditions good.  Rather more dogshit than I'd prefer, but there you are.  Also, being Sunday, rather more people than I'd prefer.

Speaking of dogshit, when I was loading my skis back in the car after, a person loosed two unleashed yellowish canines upon the parking lot.  I took it upon myself to warn the owner that I have seen a number of dogfights out there.  He shrugged.  "That's just being dogs."

Umm.  No.

4 miles, 52 minutes.
