Newspaper walk temperature -24 F.  According to Weather Underground, this would be another record low for the date.

-40 F in the North Country.

According to the Weather Twerp on noon news, the -41 F recorded in Clayton Lake, Maine was the lowest official temperature in the Northern Hemisphere last night. 

I can neither confirm nor deny this claim.
