Temperature in the 20s F, headed for zero.

Nearly calm for the morning newspaper walk.  Now the wind gusts and mutters and frets at the corners of our ancient (by US standards -- no timbers from Noah's Ark involved in the construction) abode.

I jested yesterday about blasts from Saskatoon, mainly for the alliteration.  In reality, this air comes from somewhere around James Bay.

One side-effect of the precipitous drop in oil prices -- turmoil in alternate energy planning.  Even wind-farm planning, which uses current technology and infrastructure, is going on hold:

Hard to calculate the return on your investment, if oil is going to range from $40/barrel up to $140/barrel in the course of months . . .

Temperature 8 F now, with winds gusting over 30 mph.

Wood stove radiating welcome heat.

We may skip the evening walk.

Went for a neighborhood walk by myself (Wife being too smart for such foolishness) and managed to fit into a lull in the wind.  About 3 F out there.  Stars bright, etc.

Spotted an unknown cat skulking on Parkview.  This is Groucho's territory, also Goldie, and a black shorthair whose "name" I don't know.  And some of our street's cats get over there as well, Muggsy and Nikita and Tiger up at the other end.  This was None of the Above.

Hope it does have a home where if you meow, they have to let you in.
