Thursday roadkill report
Sep. 11th, 2008 12:42 pmOne dissociated canid leg-bone up by the golf course, couldn't tell if it came from a coyote, fox, or dog. In fact, guessing by length and fur as to the genus . . . (Also, rather dessicated, a week or more old. Wasn't there when I rode the route Tuesday. Dropped by scavenger?)
Extending the survey into yesterday's drive, six or ten porcupines out on the interstate. All the identifiable remains seemed to be porcupines, continuing the shortage of skunk corpses noted earlier.
Got out in the cool of the morning (mid 50s F, 61 at the noon news) for my normal weekday route. The temperature reminds me that all further rides are on sufferance, with winter's glaciers rumbling on the horizon. Seize the day, seize the ride. Nothing new or notable in either flora or fauna.
15.33 miles, 1:05:57
That mileage suggests that I should pump up the tires again . . .
