Weather radar shows the backside of the rain just about here.  Almost dead calm -- may get windy later, as the stuff blows out.  Really heavy rain missed us.

Looks like New Brunswick and the north shore of Nova Scotia are gonna get serious wet.

Projected track shows Ike running nearly the full length of Cuba, which may bust him up.  Lotta wet sugar cane and tobacco . . .

Not riding through a prime roadkill habitat . . .

Well, the roads started to dry out, and we didn't actually have pounding rain, so I hauled the bike out and headed across town.  I weaseled those words because I met patches of mist and drizzle that aspired to rain status.  However, with humidity at 90% or so, I didn't actually get any wetter.  Some wind.

Route past the den of iniquity and vice (AKA the "racino" or slot-machine parlor), thence to the airport, up a steepish hill, and back homewards.  Wife expressed doubt about the rain, nothing detected in our personal real estate, until I showed her the drops still spattering my glasses.  "Scattered showers."

What do they do with the inmates of Gitmo when a hurricane comes calling?  Leave them out in those chain link cages?

Well, according to the evening news, we got between 2" and 3" of rain.  We're about 25 miles inland, even though the river is still tidal here.  Bar Harbor and other folks right out on the coast got over 7", washout roads and such.

Where you stand depends on where you sit.
