Thin fog this morning, lifting, now sunshine.

On the other hand, a further sign that Maine is turning into a Third World state: thieves steal navigation aids for scrap metal.

Think I'll head out for a bike ride.  Unless some yahoos have stolen the pavement for the asphalt content.

Russia's dismemberment of the sovereign nation of Georgia (not to be confused with the Peach State) could, to a disinterested observer, look rather similar to the EU and US recognition of breakaway Serbian provinces as independent governments.

And "regime change" under military force?  Been there, done that.

Couple of dead birds, one a UFO and the other a male goldfinch in breeding plumage.  Yes, I am reduced to counting feathered reptiles to mark the miles/kilometers traversed.  That goldfinch probably represents a dying nest and distraught widow, as they nest late.  Coincide with the ripening thistles and other seed heads.

Still sunny, little wind, got out on the bike to log those miles.  Passed a couple of crews installing natural gas connections to houses -- conversion to the current value leader in utility heat.  Counting the city and county government buildings, we've taken a few hundred thousand gallons of fuel-oil demand out of the market.  So watch the price of gas jump, in answer.

15.32 miles, 1:05:58

Item in today's paper about the retirement of the pediatrician who serviced both Elder and Younger Sons.  Dr. Leo used to be this young guy . . .

We've been in this town too long.
