Friday minimal-roadkill report
Aug. 15th, 2008 10:41 amCouple of dead birds, one a UFO and the other a male goldfinch in breeding plumage. Yes, I am reduced to counting feathered reptiles to mark the miles/kilometers traversed. That goldfinch probably represents a dying nest and distraught widow, as they nest late. Coincide with the ripening thistles and other seed heads.
Still sunny, little wind, got out on the bike to log those miles. Passed a couple of crews installing natural gas connections to houses -- conversion to the current value leader in utility heat. Counting the city and county government buildings, we've taken a few hundred thousand gallons of fuel-oil demand out of the market. So watch the price of gas jump, in answer.
