Well, Neighbor reports the return of at least one bike.  Called cops, cop came, took notes, had a few ideas, half an hour later he returned with a couple of bikes in the trunk of his cruiser.  One of which was chosen.

With that ID and "probable cause", we predict a return visit to alleged perps, legal paper in hand.  I don't know details, but with the cost of bikes these days, two decent-quality mountain bikes add up to a fair-sized chunk of change.  Near $1000 US, if not over.  Not petty theft.

Weird thing, Neighbor reports the thief actually repaired a couple of things on the bike before getting caught.  So if they get the second bike back, he may come out ahead on the deal . . .

The Augusta, Maine Barnes & Noble is, on 10 September 2008, presenting an "Author's Showcase Event" featuring Maine authors.  I have weaseled my way onto the floor as a sorta-author sorta living in Maine.  This event will run from 6 PM to 8 PM.

The "community relations manager" asked me to contact at least 50 people, inviting them to the event . . .

Tag!  You're it!

(Too bad the only people I know living near Augusta are also authors.)

Neighbor Lady accosted us as we were headed out on our afternoon walk.  Her bike has also returned to the fold, none the worse for wear.  Didn't garner any repairs, but she says it didn't need any.

We will have to ask about the prospect of prosecution.
