Blue sky and sunshine.  We have more snow forecast for tonight.  Various weather prophets have muttered various things about maybe breaking an all-time record for most snow in December.  However, we are about 40 degrees F above the possible temperatures for the date, so I'll take it as a trade.

Sister has reported in from the Big City.  Only two hours late leaving here, and three hours late overall -- why, that's almost on time, under current airline standards.  No mention of her baggage, so probably TLOS didn't lose it this time.

(Later)

Her baggage (not Luggage, dammit...) did arrive at the same time she did.

Okay, in spite of having their noses rubbed in Pakistani Politics, Bhutto's son and husband are taking over her party.  Apparently the lust for power knows no bounds.

Wife and I continue to croak, cough, and sneeze along.  We consider it an ominous portent that Sister was not well when she left.  Talk about unwelcome guests that linger...

Or anyway, more snow.  Supposed to get 6-10" overnight and into tomorrow, then a similar amount New Years Day into Wednesday.  Nice of the snow gods to allow me a break to clear out the first load.

And I can't go skiing with this damned New York Plague in my head and lungs.  I wonder if Sister has any idea how unwelcome she is likely to be, next Christmas.  Maybe we'll visit our offspring for the holidays...

I've seen several iterations of a "Privilege" question list circulating on LJ.  Portions of it bug me.  "Privilege" is a swear-word in many parts of our multi-cultural diversity.  Therefore I should be ashamed of growing up with parents who read books to me?  Who had books in the house?  Who valued education enough to scrimp and scrounge the cash and send me to a military academy for a year when it looked like public schools would shut down in our state, over integration?

A lot of the other unspoken assumptions are very specific to urban and modern situations, rather than the South Dakota sod shanty my father grew up in...
