I note that our neighbors to the south and west have decided against mandatory seat-belt usage laws.

New license plate motto:  "Live Free and Die"?

Can't come up with a snappy connection to the parallel approval of gender-optional civil unions.  Working on it.

Herd mentality

Okay, trash collection doesn't rank high on the "Interesting topics" ratings, but it remains a social goodness.  Our normal trash day is Friday.  This gets modified now and then by the intervention of holidays.  "Now and then" would include this week, with a Monday Holiday Law relocation of Memorial Day from its rightful place.

QED, trash day would be Saturday, tomorrow.  The contractor even placed an ad in the Daily Fishwrapper to that effect.  Yet a large percentage of the households in our neighborhood have their trash bags and bins out by the curb this morning...

And I find myself twitchy that I didn't put our bag and bin out.
