Sunrise

We actually had a sunrise this morning. First one visible since Grandpa was a boy, I do believe. Remember those old skiffy depictions of Venus as a place of swamps and perpetual rain? That's us.

Public service announcement: if you lose power and want to run a generator to keep the freezer and heat going, put the damned thing outside. The word of the day is "carbon monoxide." Okay, that's two words. Twice as important? Anyway, the state's third storm fatality from this last round forgot that little detail.

...the NINETEENTH of April in Seventy-five...

To hell with Monday holiday laws. This is the real Patriots' Day, the anniversary of the battles at Lexington and Concord.

I think it's worth remembering, now and then, that a bunch of traitors founded this nation -- armed rebellion against the established and recognized government. My Massachusetts ancestors didn't get hung or lined up and shot only because they _won_.

Not that I think this applies to current affairs...
