Acrimonious debate
Apr. 20th, 2007 08:34 amI believe that there is a limit on how far a "free" society can restrict the actions of sane and law-abiding citizens in order to impede the insane and criminal in their attempts to do bad things to others. Or even to impede the attempts by stupid and self-destructive people to do bad things to themselves.
How many people does alcohol kill each year?
How many people die from tobacco each year?
How many people do cars kill each year?
How many people die from overeating and lack of exercise each year?
Annual death toll a few years back, more people died in snowmobile accidents in this state than were murdered. A couple of them were not snowmobilers. Innocent bystanders. I've come damn close to being run over by one. Very few people _need_ a snowmobile.
