Slush

(No, not unsolicited manuscripts. Unsolicited snow.)

About an inch of slush all over our corner of the world -- evidence of snow overnight, in one of the less-lovely forms available. Wind still blowing. Retrieved neighbor's empty trash barrels from the middle of the street and dumped them behind his hedge with a certain lack of ceremony -- trash day was last Friday, dammit. If I have offended the Gods of Neighborliness, so mote it be.

Weather is supposed to continue.

Maine has one of the higher gun ownership rates in the country. We have the national average number of crazy people. We have one of the lowest homicide rates in the country, and a fair portion of those homicides do not involve guns.

It ain't simple. Don't try to make it so.

"And they say that we'll have fun if it stops raining..."

Reporting from Camp Granada here, where the rain continues. At that, we've had less than half the amount dumped on some areas in the southern part of the state. Likewise, we have not approached the 80 mph wind gusts reported elsewhere.

But I'm ready for it to stop anytime now. Really.
