Foom!!

The hovel a couple of hovels up the street from our hovel now sports blooming daffodils along the south foundation. Those buds remained tightly closed during yesterday afternoon's walk. Believe me, we would have noticed.

Spring can be an explosive event up here in the subarctic. Tattered remnants of snow yet lurk in our side and back yards.

Meanwhile, rain has returned in fits and starts. We'll see if the state Emergency Management folks can find another flood emergency to manage, what with frozen or saturated ground and ice jams and all.

Rain? Today?

So far we have bright skies with high clouds and lots of blue; I went out back awhile ago and did my first run at picking up the trash that accumulates under snow all winter. Am reminded now that brushing the cats on the deck in the winter leaves all these blobs of fur for the birds to pick through for nest material come spring...

Also saw that Gov Baldy was bragging about his health care iniatives just about the time the dental clinic in Augusta (specializing in poor kids) was shutting down for at least two weeks because they're waiting for $50,000 the state hasn't gotten around to reimbursing them for yet.

Governnment of the have-nots by the haves works so well, do you think?

Immediately after posting that, the rain ceased and sunshine replaced it. I have since found time and road for a bike ride.

Yeah, our neighbor John-Boy has some peculiar notions on the budget. Like, borrowing against future revenues to balance this year's deficit.... Can you say "Ponzi Scheme", boys and girls?
