(As opposed to Hortense, who was a great-aunt of mine. No, not the one who fell off a horse at age 80+. And no, Bill, Sirius didn't have anything to do with it, either.)

Went for a bike ride this morning. Coming back, I heard an indisputable mockingbird singing by the hospital, and another near our house. Those guys meant business.

And yes, this is another year when I ski one Sunday and bicycle the next. This rates higher on the season-change scale when you value in the additional fact that my skiing is cross-country rather than downhill, and the trails sit only a few miles from my house.

Meanwhile, back at the word-processor, I have Beowulf, The Shrew, The Brat, and Grendel's Mom all stuck under the same roof with a December storm blowing in off the Gulf of Maine. I wonder who'll survive....

Snow is melting around here too. Deerfield, NH. I'll be starting work Tuesday morning in Hudson, MA. One of my coworkers predicted that there would be no more snow this winter. I replied that he pretty much guaranteed it would be snowing today. Guess I was wrong.

Well, the prediction of 1" to 2" of rain tomorrow into Tuesday should wash some of the crap (literal) down the storm drains. I think you are supposed to catch the same weather -- we pay attention to such foreign areas because of Younger Son off at UNH.
