The downtown street party folks should consider, in their party attire and choice of beverages, the current temperature of 11 F, with windchill -5 F.  In Celsius, that translates to Somewhat Chilly.

Yeah, I decided against grilling my steak tonight. Just a wee too cold and windy. Unfortunately I tend to overcook when I use my oven's broiler, but the steak came out...all right. I prefer it more bloody.

It's currently 1 below (F) here, with a wind chill in the vicinity of 20 below. And in our office, the interior temperature is currently holding at 57F, which is why I'm wearing enough layers to look like the illustration for a National Geographic article on "Daily Life in a Changing Siberia."

I would have termed it Really *&(^*&%^() Etaoinshrldu Cold - but then, I am but a thin-blooded flatlander with no right to engage in True Down East Understatement.

(I am also slightly self-annoyed at forgetting to connect to bbc.co.uk for the 0000GMT ringing of Big Ben.)

Whereas I am annoyed at the BBC for dropping shortwave service to North America. I _did_ fire up the Hallowed Hallicrafter's Super Skyrider SX28 to get a time-check* with WWV, but that just isn't the same.

*Besides, we could use the waste heat.
