Reading the newspaper at the dining room table, looked up, saw a gray cat (Nikita) meditating in a compact cat-loaf on the neighbor's picnic table.  Read a while longer, looked up, cat had become orange and white (Muggsy) in the same spot and pose.

Nikita is dominant in that household, so she must have moved of her own free will, leaving a warm spot and view abhorring their vacuum . . .

cat-loaf *laugh* I remember back about 20 years ago, there was an artist named Kliban who had a whole series of sketches about cats. One of the recurring themes was "How to tell a Cat from a Meatloaf" or something like that. Fun times! I believe his wife handles a website of his stuff as he's since departed this world.

I remember Kliban cats. We had a cat-a-day calendar of his work.

We are Aware of "The Game." Local cats play it every day.

Amusing sidelight on The Game, as played by the local cats: apparently Wife and I have become counters in the scoring. Neither Tiger nor Nikita will allow their fellow-house cats anywhere near us. And there's this miniature black panther over on Elm Street that has swatted another cat in our presence, for daring to approach.
