Cue the ominous music
Oct. 27th, 2008 01:59 pmWell, a swarm of city-orange trucks descended on our street and unloaded a crawler backhoe. This is never a good omen.
We snooped, first from a distance and then closer on our afternoon neighborhood stroll, and the quarry seems to be a small alley-way that ducks off between two houses. I think they are just removing the pavement and base, for reconstruction. Time will tell. Were I the owner of the brown house to the south of that lane, I would be pacing around nervously right now -- about four feet between the backhoe and the wall of the house . . .
A number of limbs and whole trees down from yesterday's weather entertainment, but none that affect us personally.
