About 50% (by bulk) of today's mail was political fliers.  The rest?  A catalog.  And one of the fliers was harping on the Obama loves terrorists theme.  Not gonna go over big.

This is why I'm incredibly glad that Texas doesn't require one to join a particular party to vote in state elections and the like. My ex made a point of listing herself as Democrat ten years ago, and we spent every October digging ourselves out from underneath insane amounts of literature trying to get her to switch to the GOP. Me, I just listed myself as "Independent", and I get nuthin'. True, I don't get all of the literature that the Dormouse got, but that stuff doesn't even make good firelighters.

(On that note, I'm keeping an eye open for various political headquarters on November 5. Every sign store in the Dallas area has been doing gangbuster business, and I need about six big vinyl banners from our various congressional races. They'll be perfect for dropcloths next spring.)

Being registered "independent" won't save you. Most of this is "Occupant" grade mailings.

And as you say, no good for starting a fire in the stove.
