(Okay, apparently LJ doesn't like frivolity.  Frank just ate that first attempt at posting.)

No roadkill report, as I wasn't biking on roads.  Assorted porcupines and woodchucks cast up broken by the route to and from, but those don't count.  And the road through the Triangle area is a royal PITA, with construction and stuff.

Carriage trails lived up to expectation, with clear light and warm enough that I pulled off the fleece jacket after about half an hour riding.  Lots of "foliage" to admire, some of which I photographed but I won't upload pictures because nobody cared enough to comment on the bog photos yesterday.  So there!  Your loss.

Weird feeling, riding a bike downhill on a gravel trail coated with acorns over dry white-pine needles.  Ball bearings.  Wouldn't want to try that on a road bike, with narrow tires . . .

I hiked the Triad, and ended on the carriage roads near Day Mtn. It was busy enough near Jordan Pond. It's been years since I've done the Triad, and it's just a bump in the landscape, but man, it was a lot more strenuous than I recall.

Glacial rebound, you know. Those hills *are* getting taller every year.

I went from the boat launch on Eagle Lake, up and over behind Park HQ to Aunt Betty's Pond and then Around the Mountain, the trail up above Jordan Pond. Thence back down the other side of Eagle Lake. Some school had shuffled a bunch of kids out there, with rental bikes and minimal adult control. Glad I wasn't responsible for herding them . . .

Oh, yeah, those evil schools do that sometimes. ;-) It was a good day to be out there, though. Gee, I used to bike the carriage roads like that....
