9. The RTE has been temporarily disabled for users running Firefox 2.0.0.17 because of an incompatible change in that version of Firefox. We hope to be able to re-enable it in the future.
So I guess it was a known problem, and this is a temporary workaround.
I've been holding off on that because of anecdotal reports of ver. 3 causing system crashes on Macs. BetNoir specifically, and I consider her reliable . . .
Firefox 3 has been upgraded a couple of times now. I'm currently using version 3.0.2. Of course I'm not using a Mac, so I can't speak to the Mac problems directly.
