Minor gloom in Mudville

Well, Michigan lost the Rose Bowl by one point, a field goal with time expired. You could, with equal accuracy, say that Texas won by the same margin. Glass half full, or half empty? Our connection with Michigan has enough dust on it to count as archaeological strata....

Of zero importance in the cosmic scheme of things.

True, and I can weigh in near the same archaeological strata...

But taken with that particular grain of salt, it was a glorious game, played with such intensity by both teams that it did come down to the final seconds, and there is a marvelous poetry about it.

I found it interesting that 2 different conferences saw fit to have PSAs about good sportsmanship during the commercials. Apparently the separation between the fantasy and the reality is getting too large to be swept under the rug any more.
