Sports news coverage that I've seen talks like the US women's softball team had a right to that gold medal.  They owned it.

Uh, no.  Not unless they won the game . . .

No, American entitlement in general. You'll hear much the same about any close contest in which someone else took the gold.

Honestly, I'm kinda glad they lost, but really glad they lost by being outplayed. Now, if it had been multiple bad calls by the umps, well.

But wow, I can imagine how horrible that game must have been for the Americans. Imagine them all pure athletes, without a speck of entitlement, and it still must have been brutal.

(I suppose by some standards, I now hate America for being proud of another group of fine athletes for winning a hard-fought game.)

Sounds more like US entitlement to me. :(

Sometimes it's rather refreshing watching the Olympics in another country. In Britain, the commentators cheer madly when Team GB wins a bronze and are out and out thrilled by silvers and golds.
