Flurries of feathers and flakes

jhetleyScattered snowflakes throughout the morning, nothing accumulated yet. Supposedly the next storm will pass out to sea to our south, with maybe 1-3" accumulation along the coast. We'll see whether we are coastal or inland this time -- our town moves around a lot, if you believe the weather forecasts.
Had a flock of goldfinches in the side yard, swarming the thistle feeders and spilling over to the sunflower. Some number in excess of 15, because we counted that many on the feeders and ground at the same time but others were perched up in the trees. This time of year, they're actually drabfinches, olive and gray rather than yellow and black. They look silly when they're changing feathers in spring and fall, all motley like a bunch of court jesters.
