All that rain, flooding, weather riot and insurrection across Iowa, Illinois, Indiana?  That's our corn belt, folks.  Drive for fifty miles and see nothing but corn stalks.

And the price of food was already through the roof.

Not much corn this season I suspect.

It keeps getting washed away.

Yep. What's worse is that so many farmers were starting to plant on their Soil Bank acres because of the price of corn, and they were borrowing heavily against the autumn crop to do so. Man, I thought Texas farmers had it bad during the 2005-6 drought, but this goes to a whole new level.
