Alarums and excursions

Looks like Beowulf and The Bitch will be going on hold for a bit -- got an email last night that the line-edits of DRAGON'S TEETH are wending their convoluted way from NYC to the backwoods, with the usual need to cut that and explain more of this here and could I give a little bit more of a epilogue on these other characters? Oh, and this subplot doesn't get resolved....
This time, the Editor thinks I didn't give enough back-story in case you, Dear Reader, haven't read DRAGON'S EYE. When I sent WINTER OAK in, she thought I gave too much back-story from SUMMER COUNTRY. I'll figure the sequel game out someday.
Speaking of unresolved subplots, I don't have a contract for DRAGON'S TEETH yet. I signed three copies and sent them back in early November, with the Nice Agent Lady acknowledging receipt. So I wonder where the paper went? Particularly the paper with the dollar-signs on it.
Hey, at least _this_ time I was home when the publisher sent the manuscript out. With SUMMER COUNTRY, I was in Atlanta when the package arrived in Maine. With a deadline.
We'll see if the manuscript gets here. We've had one go missing, thank-you-very-much FedEx.
