Okay, she's shot someone

But we don't know who. She isn't very good with a pistol, it's only an itty-bitty Walther .380, and she's shooting inside a dark house trailer by moonlight. So we don't know the results. Four shots, she probably hit _something._
If she had the sense God gave an animal cracker, she would have gotten a shotgun instead. That's the problem with characters.

Back on the Ustafish, pistol qualifications involved hitting a man-sized target at twenty-five feet with at least twenty out of thirty .45ACP rounds. Believe it or not, we had folks - officers, even - fail.
Of course, she might get a little Authorial assistance ... :-)
