As part of my morning outing, I acquired a new pair of cycle gloves.  This to replace the three pairs out in the garage, all with extraneous holes (ones not allocated to fingers).  I need padded gloves, or my fingers get tingly and numb after ten miles or so.

Outlay of $32, and the damn things only last a couple of thousand miles...

Sunny and less windy today, "showers" forecast for tonight and on for the next few days.  Guess I'd better mow the lawn.  Or more accurately, the dandelions.

The fingers of my right hand are always somewhat tingly and numb. Cycling makes them worse, so I appreciate the need for good padded gloves.

I've found that I can buy weight lifting gloves at Wal*Mart which work as well as the cycling gloves (and apparently are exactly the same except for the labels). Might try a pair and see what you think.

Or perhaps diving gloves? I worked with a guy who swore by them. Insulated but flexible enough to work with. Might be a bit pricey.

Don't need insulation. Need to soak up sweat -- they end up turning patchy white in summer. Salt...

I have the same issue, and have been resisting wearing gloves due to the climate in Houston. I thought that padded grips plus some tinkering with the handlebars (to give me a more upright posture) would probably fix it. Perhaps I should re-think that.

I find that the "dropped handlebars" on typical road bikes are more comfortable for long rides than the straight bars on mountain or crossover bikes. I can move my hands around into more different gripping positions, reducing pressure on any one spot.

Most riding gloves wick sweat pretty well -- see my response to prophet_marcus above on them developing white patches. But Maine summer does not equal Texas summer...
