You'd think, where it represents an actual historical day, like Independence Day or Bastille Day or Cinco de Mayo, they could keep the damned holiday where it belongs...

Gray morning, but no prospect of significant rain.  We have entered that interregnum between thaw and green where brush fires lurk.  All the brown grass and dried leaves from last fall and winter-killed scrub and old coniferous needles, tinder for a careless cigarette butt or sparks along the tracks from a passing train.  No wonder the flash of a few flintlock muskets could touch off a war.

Still, it's good that it's celebrated.

On a completely separate note, I read the last of Dragons Teeth last night and damn near choked when I got to the weremoose line.

If you lived in moose country, you wouldn't laugh.
