The downside of that "15 minutes of fame" thing

There's this nice guy who volunteers at the nature center, helping out inside because he lives out of a power wheelchair these days.  And he also helps out at the local agency on aging, including an appearance in a TV "public service announcement" about fighting Medicare fraud.  So everybody has been teasing him about his newfound stardom.

Including, the other night, Noel "Paul" Stookey* showing up with his wife at an aging seminar and going "I know you!  You're on TV!"

*Of Peter, Paul, and Mary.  He lives in the area.

I was lucky enough in childhood/teenagehood to live near an outdoor concert venue- for many years, the highlight of my summer was the Peter, Paul and Mary concert. Sitting on a blanket under the stars with friends of mine, listening to everyone in the audience (about 1,000 people) sing Puff the magic dragon is one of my favorite childhood memories.

One amusing sidelight of the incident for you -- apparently Volunteer Guy knew the Stookey family in his dim and distant youth. Got to hear "Puff" _long_ before it hit the big time.
