I thought time...

...was supposed to keep everything from happening at once. So I'm working on Current Project and get a contract in the mail today for Next Project (along with retainer check, yay!) with a request for concept sketch ASAP. And a phone call from Third Project about a meeting of all parties. And just got an email from the Nice Editor Lady saying that page proofs for THE WINTER OAK are in the mail and they want them back soonest. And have been swapping emails with Promotion Person at Nice Editor Lady's publisher because some damnfool wants to interview me.
Arrrrgh!
(So naturally I come over here and waste time.)

Take several 3x5 index cards, write the task at hand on each one. Then you have a choice - either fling them out of the window and do the one that lands closest, or hurl them down the stairs and do whichever one makes it furthest down. There's a variation on this method that involves a noticeboard and darts, but I'm not sure whether you should be throwing sharp and pointy things around your office on a wet Thursday ...
