Pine grosbeaks

Delightful chunky birds, pinkish males, gray females, pause in their pursuit of miniature crab apples to give you that "mostly harmless" look and then go back to eating.  We don't get them every year -- must be a shortage of good berries up north.

Is it okay for me to be jealous? I haven't seen a Pine Grosbeak for years. This has been a big northern finch invasion year, but I just don't have time to spend many hours up along the ridge looking for them.
