"Sorry to have to report the news that Janet Kagan Died today of acute Chronic
obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). She was on hospice care toward the end,
but ending came fairly quickly. A small memorial service will be held at the
Kagan home, next week. Please don't send flowers. I will let you know If and
where charitable donations are in order."

Oh, no. She was one of my favorite authors, and also one of the first "real" authors who helped me out as a newbie. I never had the chance to meet her in person, but I thought of her as a friend. Dammit.

We did, indeed. And didn't she give us heck when we told her we intended to pay her royalties on the sales. Said to hold back half-a-dozen books for her, if we had to give her something. She'd tell me when to send them.
