Well, we have this monster photo-copier, office size, that I picked up ten years ago for $10 at a ham radio get together.  It worked.  Actually still does, or did until I started to tear it apart into bite-sized chunks to get rid of it.  Damned thing weighs over 250 pounds...

Anyway, I dropped a 20-pound piece of it on my foot.  No broken bones, but it managed to remove about a square inch of skin.  Now debating if that is a big-enough wound to justify professional medical attention.  But first, I have to retrieve Wife from the nature center, because she needed driving service this morning.

In less-ouchy news, the sun came out.

It came out for a few minutes here, too. But then it saw its shadow and went back in.

When was your last tetanus shot, if I may make so bold as to inquire? Who knows what stuff your foot may manage to pick up...

Last tetanus shot was three or four years ago.

How deep is the cut/laceration/scrape? And was your last tetanus less than 10 years ago? If it's not that deep and you're up to date on the tetanus, I'd let it heal on its own.

Exceptions are if you have diabetes or peripheral vascular disease or immune deficiency. In that case, go see someone.

I did go over to the walk-in-care place basically because of the ugly appearance thing, they asked about tetanus shots (3-4 years back), cleaned the damage up ("evulsion", which spell-check doesn't recognize) and gave me care instructions.

No cross-country skiing for a while, but we don't have the snow conditions for it anyway...

"Avulsion" (which spell-check still doesn't recognize), according to the notes they sent home with me. That ain't the way the nice lady at walk-in-care pronounced it...

Yes, evulsion was the word I didn't use because no one ever knows what it means except other medical personnel. Good to know it's going to be okay.
