Okay, I'm driving Wife to work this morning, through and over sleet -- otherwise known as little ice ball-bearings -- and we see the usual percentage (high) of drivers with cell phones bolted to their ears.  In conditions that made us happy to have AWD and ABS.  This, of course, does not count the drivers with various incarnations of hands-free phones.

Would you drive any better with that cell phone shoved up your ass?

The other day, the Czarina and I were nearly hit by a moron merging onto I-35 from a highway onramp. He had what I refer to as "the Darwin Awards secret handshake": he was holding his cell phone with his right hand to his left ear and using his left hand to drive, while attempting to look for traffic to his left. Not only could he not really handle that issue, but as the Czarina got around him, he slowed down even further and blocked off a whole gaggle of drivers, and I was fearing that I'd witness a ten-car pileup. I'm not kidding in the slightest: we had to slow down to 30 mph to hit our exit, and this guy dropped below that before moving to the fast lane.

Yesterday while out I nearly got into at least 2-3 accidents. Stupid people in parking lots mostly. Clearly no idea what 'right of way' means. One was from Flordia, so that I understood a little more. But still. I was not impressed.

Of course, I also received a couple merging favors from a couple other drivers, so it balanced. Sorta.
