Promises, promises....

Gray day out there, chill wind, but the promised white stuff seems to have taken a right turn and headed over toward the fictional land of Barnstead and That Cat. I'd guess that the nature center crew were right to cancel the scheduled sea-bird cruise for this morning, though. They had planned to take a lobster-boat sized craft out from the end of Roque* Bluffs, a couple of hours' drive east of here.

Speaking of cats, we have a defective lot around here. Looked out the window the other day and spotted Mittens tucked up into a comfortable cat-loaf under the bird-feeder. Right behind Mittens, also looking comfy and close enough that their tails touched, was a squirrel chowing down on the sunflower waste from overhead. Cat, meet rodent. Rodent, meet cat.

*Note to LJ spellcheck -- that is _not_ a spelling error for "Rogue."

I'm afraid cats and squirrels have identity crises here on the other side of the country (L.A.), too. Squirrels have been known to run over the tail of my mom's cat. She flicks her tail at them but nothing worse.

It's all bad parenting -- MommaCat didn't teach the young 'uns to hunt.

I got five inches and change of snow here in Massachusetts. Snow I'm used to, but not in early November. I hadn't even taken in the patio furniture!

A lot of the storms go south of us, or slant up offshore and hit Nova Scotia and the far Downeast counties of Maine. Portland can get more than a foot of snow and we see nary a flake.
