Had to drive to Waterville on a project this afternoon. Was mildly disturbed to see ice on the Sebasticook River on the way. Now, I'd expected ice on the farm ponds and marshes, after all, morning lows were near 10 F some areas. But on moving water?

Where's global warming when you really need it?

Coming back after dark, I managed to avoid any close encounters of the ungulate kind. Couple of deer browsing along the interstate, but they stayed out of my radiator. And no moose spotted. Driving in Maine can be entertaining.

Y'know, I hate the term "global warming", precisely because it lends itself not just to silly jokes like yours, but to people seriously not getting the concept. It's not just about "things are getting warmer around here" -- it's about extremes of climate. Hotter summers, colder winters, more and nastier hurricanes (hello, Florida!), flooding and drought. All of which we've been seeing, with increasing frequency, for the past 10 years. But because the sound-bite is "global warming", too many people don't understand that all those different things are related and part of the same process.

Well, when you add the halfwits and fuckwits to the population that gains financially from fouling our nest, you have a majority of the human race.

I'll just stick to the silly jokes. Anything more advanced only contributes to depression.
