Drove out into the williwags, puckerbrush, back country, whatever, and achieved both cider and Greening apples.  Now Wife can create apple-goodness for a while.  (For all those muttering "Sexist pig, why doesn't he create apple-goodness for his own male-chauvinist gut!" I will add that I do help...)

Noted along the way, numerous signs for daycare services.  This, in (formerly) farming small towns, twenty or thirty miles out the back roads from even our modest metropolis.  The American Family is dying, right before our very eyes, with even rural parents (where there are two parents) working outside the home and left without grandmothers or aunts or other safety net.

Or something.  Maybe they just want a break from the nasty little brats, a sentiment I can understand.

Beautiful day in the neighborhood, sunny and clear, with a good mix of trees-that-have-turned, trees-half-turned, trees-gilded, and trees-yet-green, not all of which are evergreens.  We have not yet achieved "peak color" on the state tourist website.

I had my own key when I was twelve. These days, if you left a twelve-year-old to start cooking lunch, you'd probably have Social Services after you...

I used to cook dinner for us when I was in high school and Mom worked afternoons. I'd pick up Dad at the bus stop...
