Sunday roadkill report

Couple of porcupine corpses, squashed garter snakes, one grouse, one turtle.  Two older women had stopped at the grouse -- don't know if they were collecting dinner or needed some feathers for crafties.

Also, the ride was probably roadkill.  Windy this morning, 15mph base with gusts, but I went out anyway.  Got about 20 miles out into the back woods and decided I wasn't actually having fun...

So I headed home, using the omen-named Hinckley Hill Road.  Any cyclist can tell you that a back road containing the word "hill" has drawbacks.  I'd been over this one before, and it was downwind, but a mile uphill in the lowest gear of a 24-speed road bike, at 6 mph, lacks delight.  Anyway.

Purple asters putting on quite a roadside show. 

Moose season starts tomorrow.  Somebody warn Bullwinkle.
