Escape to the Hundred Acre Wood

The lady of the house and I looked outside, saw sunshine, and declared a holiday. Out to the abandoned farm we own on a ridge north of here, beautiful fall day, blue sky with just enough clouds for accents, most of the leaves down but the oaks and beeches still holding on, tamaracks gold, grass in the field still green. Got squarked by a pair of hairy woodpeckers and stirred up what must have been half a dozen grouse when we walked back along the old woods road. Snuggled a bit. Bought a jug of cider on the way home and just finished a glass with a wedge of aged cheddar. Life is good.

Now to make life bad for a character or two.

Oh, that sounds lovely!

The colors are at their peak here in Minneapolis, even if it is rather gray. I am deeply regretting having been stuck inside an office building all day.
