Not even a squashed squirrel.

Waited a bit for the day to warm up -- after the last bike ride in the 80s F, low 50s seemed a bit extreme.  Also, a breeze to make things even more so.  Add wild roses to the roadside flora, plus some yellow stuff and some white stuff -- precise botanical terms, those.

This brings me to 431 miles for the season, rather behind where I'd like to be.  That's due to internal and external extenuating circumstances, like weather and this damned allergy crud.

15.27 miles*, 1:08:21

*On the standard route, by which the discerning observer will guess that I pumped up the tires.  Harder tires = fewer revolutions of the wheel in a set distance = lower odometer reading...

When I was in Sorrento back in May, the dog tooth violets were just opening. Rose season already! I miss those rugosas.

Our rugosas have been blooming for weeks. The roadside species I reported are, I believe, truly wild, with flat and simple flowers.

Yep, wild rugosas, at least in Sorrento.

I believe this one is "Northeastern Rose" or Rosa nitida, "found in swamps, bogs, or in moist soil." I spotted it on the Stillwater Ave. roadside, out in the bog near the City Forest and the American Concrete precast plant, landmarks you may remember.

May consult further with The Naturalist when she's home from work.

The "yellow stuff and white stuff" is probably what we refer to as "Compositensis Nearoadia". :-)

AKA "daisylike flowers growing near the road".

We see a lot of that species.
